1. Account creation

Find the log-in link on any page

**Select the blue link in the upper right hand corner to open the account log-in page.**

Open the account creation page

Create your account

Add the correct character sequence to satisfy the capcha security challenge
Type in your user name
Select a password
Repeat the password
Type in your e-mail -- officially an optional step, but really a must if you're going to be working across multiple wikipedias
Click the "save login info" box
Hit the "save" button ("创建新账户" in this case)

2. Set your interface to English

Select your user preferences tab

**Select the 3rd link from the left.**
*(Unless it's a right→left language, in which case it's 3rd from the right)*

Edit your User Profile page -- part 1

Select "en-English" from the upper drop-down box that now says "zh - 中文".
Ignore the lower drop-down box and other settings for now.

Make sure the three check boxes are checked; in order, they are:

"Remember my login on this computer"
"Enable e-mail from other users"
"Send me copies of emails I send to other users" (optional)

You can ignore the other settings for now.

When done, select the left button: "保存参数设置" ("save"). (If you hold your cursor over a buttons, you should get a tooltip. Control-S is always "save" in any wikipedia.)

Note the change in your profile page

**You can now edit the rest of your preferences using an English interface.**
